Connecticut
Located in Mystic, Connecticut (near New London), this seaport
museum has a number of ships, and excellent displays on whaling,
including a whaling ship.
Berthed in Charlestown (close to Boston) the ship, authorized by George Washington,
has been refurbished and recently sailed out of Boston. Great pictures
on the Website.
Located in historic Salem, Massachusetts, the Peabody-Essex Museum has
extensive exhibits of products from "the China Trade" of the 18th and 19th
centuries. The Museum houses more than 400,000 objects including a major collection of
Chinese porcelaines.

Searsport, ME
The Museum is dedicated to the preservation, documentation, and
exhibition of the history Penobscot Bay and the maritime history
of Maine. It is a unique seafaring village comprised of thirteen
buildings - many of them former sea captain's homes. The campus
includes eight National Historic Register buildings and the modern
Stephen Phillips Memorial Library which has extensive maritime,
photographic and geneological holdings.
